Argos recognises ICTI Certification I C T I A major step forward in the programme to improve working conditions in Chinese toy factories has been taken with the news that major retailer Argos has accepted the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI) CARE Process. The ICTI has now been recognised as an approved programme through which factories can satisfy Argos' requirements for labour standards and worker rights. Argos will expect its toy suppliers to demonstrate that their factories comply with the ICTI Code of Business Practices or to the Argos Ethical Trading Principles. Christian Ewert, Chief Operating Officer for the ICTI CARE Process, said: About Argos Argos, one of the UK's leading multi-channel retailers, has over 580 stores in the UK and Republic of Ireland and sales of over £3 billion. Argos, the pioneer of catalogue retailing in the UK, has established a strong brand focused on choice, value and convenience. It is also the 2003 Retailer of the Year and the 2003 and 2004 Multi-Channel Retailer of the Year (awards by Retail Week). To visit Argos' award winning e-tail site, click on: www.argos.co.uk
